What: Garrett Trails Volunteer Morning at Fork Run! In case you
haven't heard yet, the International Mountain Biking Association
came and taught a trail building course a few weeks ago. Since then,
Garrett Trails, ASCI, and Community Action have partnered, through a
workforce development/green grant, to build trails in Fork Run this
summer. So far around 2000 feet of trail has already been developed
and this is your chance to get involved! Garrett Trails will be
hosting a volunteer morning on Saturday, July 31st from 9AM-Noon for
anyone interested in hiking and biking in Garrett County. This is a
great chance to get involved, get some exercise or just come see
what work has been done so far!
Who: Anyone interested in building more trails in Garrett County and
who loves to work outside. Children are welcome to help.
When: Saturday, July 31st, 9am-12pm (3 hours)
Where: Meet at the upper Fork Run Recreation Area
parking lot (just up Shingle Camp Rd. from the main Fork Run
entrance – it is the parking lot with a storage container parked in
the corner).
Why: Garrett trails needs your help! We have been developing new
trails in the Fork Run Recreation Area, a 550 acre public recreation
space managed by the Adventure Sports Center International (ASCI),
and need volunteers to help with trail building and maintenance.
Volunteers will learn about sustainable trail building, and how to
use hand tools to make a world class trail.
Bring: water bottle, outdoor cloths (will get dirty!), personal
snacks. Garrett trails will provide all tools and gloves.
