Mid-County Connector
|
Description: This project will create a continuous trail from Fork Run Trailhead off of Shingle Camp Road to the Visitor Center including several interconnected single track trails in Fork Run. This is an important connection between multiple recreational facilities.
There several components to the project: 1) trailhead kiosk at Visitor Center, 2) new asphalt and boardwalk trail from Deep Creek Drive to Marsh Hill Road, 3) improvement of old logging road to connect ASCI to Fork Run trailhead, and 4) construction of single track in Fork Run, 5) a trail from the Glendale Bridge to Route 219 along the route for a proposed water line. |
Project Status: 4. Construction Funding & Construction
Visitor Center Trail has approval of trail kiosk design, all easements collected and signed, final alighment done, bridge specs verified and the corridor cut. Fork Run has the final alignment for the ‘logging road’ portion of ASCI to Fork Run, equipment purchased, grant money accepted, and jobs offered. An effort is being made to piggyback the Glendale Trail on the development of the new water/sewer line along the road.
The Next Step: The county is now doing pre-bid, bid review, and contracting. Further research is being done on the funding of the Glendale Road section of this trail.
